Aspiring Forensic Psychologist - Learning Support Assistant - Maidenhead
Pay: £108 per day. Location: Maidenhead. Start Date: July 2026 & September 2026 (multiple start points available). Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:45pm, term time only. Training: Full education, training, and CPD provided. Trial days: Available before the start date - paid at £108 per day.
This role offers hands on experience in a specialist environment supporting children and young people with SEMH needs, autism, and associated behavioural challenges. It is ideal for an aspiring forensic psychologist seeking real world psychological insight.
The setting prioritises individualised support, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour strategies. Many pupils have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences, making this opportunity valuable for developing psychological expertise.
By working in a therapeutic, restorative, and personalised learning environment, you will build the practical skills necessary for a future career in forensic or clinical psychology.
Responsibilities- Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, including those at risk of exclusion.
- Work with children exhibiting challenging behaviour, attachment difficulties, or trauma related responses.
- Apply and refine de escalation techniques, behaviour management, and emotional regulation strategies.
- Observe and apply psychological theories in real world settings related to behaviour, trauma, and development.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies.
- Build key skills such as rapport building, resilience, conflict resolution, and reflective practice.
- Make a direct impact on pupils' wellbeing, engagement, and long term outcomes.
- A strong academic background in psychology, criminology, or a related field.
- A keen interest in forensic psychology, behaviour, and mental health.
- Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour (desirable).
- A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach, especially in high pressure situations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with pupils who may struggle with authority or relationships.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to remain consistent, patient, and reflective.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to succeed.
