Heidelberg Materials is looking for a committed and safety-focused Asphalt Plant Operative to join our team. The Opportunity As an Asphalt Plant Operative, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the asphalt plant. From production planning and plant operation to inspections, maintenance, and mobile plant operation, you'll help ensure the site consistently delivers quality products while maintaining the highest safety standards.You'll be trusted to monitor plant performance, carry out routine maintenance, identify issues before they become problems, and support the continuous improvement of site operations. What You'll Be Doing Operating asphalt plant equipment safely and efficiently to meet production requirements. Planning production activities in line with customer demand and plant capability. Managing plant start-up and shut-down procedures to maximise operational efficiency. Conducting routine inspections and monitoring plant performance. Carrying out maintenance and minor repairs within your level of competence. Operating mobile plant equipment, including Front-End Loaders (FEL) and dumpers where required. Refuelling, greasing, cleaning, and maintaining plant equipment in line with manufacturer and company standards. Completing daily inspection records and operational documentation accurately. Reporting defects, breakdowns, and maintenance requirements to site management. Supporting a proactive safety culture through near-miss reporting and hazard identification. Operating machinery in an energy-efficient and environmentally responsible manner. Supporting operations at other Heidelberg Materials sites when required within a reasonable travelling distance. What We're Looking For Essential Skills & Experience Experience working within an industrial, manufacturing, quarrying, aggregates, asphalt, or heavy plant environment. Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good practical problem-solving and maintenance skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Reliable with excellent timekeeping and attendance. Qualifications Good general standard of education. EPIC certification to operate mobile plant equipment. NVQ Level 2 in Mobile Plant Operations (following EPIC completion). Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and Quarry Regulations.
