ASD Teaching Assistant
Location: Lewisham, South East London
Pay: £95-£115 per day
Start Date: As soon as possible
We are working with a supportive school in Lewisham, seeking a dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant to support pupils with autism. This is a rewarding role for someone patient, consistent and confident supporting children with additional needs in a structured environment.
You will be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them to access learning, manage sensory needs and develop communication and independence skills.
The Role- Support pupils with autism in the classroom
- Provide 1:1 and small group support
- Assist with communication using visuals, PECS or other strategies
- Support emotional regulation and behaviour
- Help maintain clear routines and structure
- Support personal care where required
- Work closely with teachers and the SEN team
- Have experience supporting children with ASD (school or care background)
- Be calm, patient and reliable
- Understand sensory needs and structured routines
- Be confident supporting behaviour and emotional needs
- Be comfortable with personal care if required
- Work well as part of a team
