Main duties of the job

This apprenticeship offers a supported approach to new career opportunities and further education in the drug and alcohol sector. As an Apprentice Young Persons Worker you will gain experience of the Lancashire Young Person's treatment system, assist in assessing user needs, and provide positive interventions that encourage, motivate and support service users to address their substance misuse. You will work in partnership with the local authority, between With You offices and the local authority offices - a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.

This is a full time, fixed term (12 months) position: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Essential Skills

• Commitment to complete a level 3 Substance Misuse qualification within 6 months of starting the role
• The ability to listen, share information and give/receive support and advice
• Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to speak and write clearly
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, sharing skills, knowledge and experience
• Interest in working with young people and substance misuse
• Good organisational skills: manage time effectively, prioritise work and cope with competing demands
• The ability to record and maintain accurate case details in a timely manner
• Effective IT skills, able to use different packages and digital media

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Level 3 Substance Misuse qualification (to be completed within 6 months of starting the role)
• Good communication, IT and organisational skills as outlined above

Experience

• Experience or demonstrated interest in working with young people in a substance misuse setting is desirable
• Experience of data entry and case management is an advantage
