Role: Applications Solutions Architect

Salary: £80,000-£90,000 + benefits

Location: Birmingham, West Midlands (Hybrid working)

We're looking for a Solution Architect who thrives on solving complex business challenges through smart, scalable application design. This role is ideal for someone with a development background who has progressed into architecture and can confidently engage with both technical teams and customers.

You'll be responsible for creating high-level designs, understanding customer requirements, conducting cost analysis, and translating business needs into technical solutions. You'll also produce clear, well-structured design documentation and work closely with delivery teams to ensure successful implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design of software applications
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements
• Oversee development of application solutions and ensure best practices are followed
• Mentor and guide development teams
• Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and secure
• Stay current with industry trends and technologies
• Produce and maintain architectural documentation
• Ensure applications meet performance, reliability, and governance standards
• Provide technical direction and ensure alignment with architectural standards

Skills & experience required

• Experience in application architecture, ideally with a development background
• Ability to functionally understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
• Strong relationship-building skills and credibility in front of customers
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Comfortable working with cross-functional teams and developers
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Must be eligible to obtain Government and/or Police Security Clearance

This will be a hybrid working role with expectation on-site 2 or 3 days per week, please consider this before applying for the role.
