Job Description

Inspire People are working in partnership with The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board ("ECITB") to seek an Applications Manager to take ownership of the Microsoft technology stack and other key SaaS applications, supporting a full cloud migration and driving improved user satisfaction and productivity. Full-time, home based with some UK-wide travel. Up to £41k plus generous pension contribution and benefits.

About the Role

This role provides the chance to manage supplier relationships, support security operations, and develop professionally within a dynamic IT environment

As an Applications Manager at ECITB, you will play a pivotal role in managing and supporting the organisation's cloud-based Microsoft technology stack and other key SaaS applications. You will be responsible for the day-to-day internal support and operation of platforms such as SharePoint, Adobe, and SendGrid, ensuring smooth adoption and optimal usage across the business.

You will act as the primary point of contact for application-related queries, triaging and resolving issues while working closely with departmental heads to improve user satisfaction and productivity. You will lead the migration from Legacy systems such as ShareFile to modern platforms like SharePoint, guiding users through significant change and embedding new ways of working.

You will also support business transformation projects, manage supplier relationships, and collaborate closely with the IT Security team to ensure a strong focus on security and risk management. There is scope for professional growth by taking on further responsibilities, including supporting security operations and expanding your portfolio of applications.

As a key member of the IT team, you will engage with stakeholders across the organisation, delivering training sessions and sharing knowledge to empower users and drive adoption of emerging Microsoft technologies such as Copilot and Power BI. Your proactive and consultative approach will be essential in enhancing the overall technology experience and enabling data-driven decision-making within ECITB.

Key Responsibilities

As the Applications Manager, you will:

  • Manage and support the Microsoft technology stack, including SharePoint, Copilot, and other SaaS applications such as Adobe and SendGrid
  • Lead migration from Legacy systems like ShareFile to modern platforms such as SharePoint
  • Act as the primary internal contact for application-related queries, resolving issues efficiently
  • Engage with heads of department to understand needs and deliver tailored solutions
  • Develop and deliver training sessions, knowledge shares, and end-user support to improve productivity and satisfaction
  • Collaborate with security and IT teams to ensure applications comply with security and risk management standards
  • Oversee supplier management and system integration, building strong vendor relationships
  • Evaluate and introduce emerging Microsoft technologies to drive innovation and data-informed decision-making
  • Maintain application services to ensure reliability and high performance

About You

We are seeking a proactive, approachable individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for enabling teams through technology. We welcome applications from individuals with relevant technical skills and experience in application management or IT service delivery. You may have a background in IT support, application management, or cloud services.

You should have experience with the following:

  • Microsoft 365 suite, particularly SharePoint and Teams
  • SaaS application management, including tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud and SendGrid
  • Service desk and ticketing systems, preferably Freshdesk or similar
  • Understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC) and supplier management
  • Awareness of IT security principles and best practices
  • Ability to promote and support adoption of emerging Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft Fabric and Copilot
  • Stakeholder engagement skills, with experience in delivering training and knowledge-sharing sessions (eg lunch and learns)
