Annex 21 - Senior Health Care Support Work - Speech & Language

Applicants who do not meet the essential criteria will be considered under the Annex 21 training programme, where whilst undergoing training, they will be paid a 70% of the top of Band 3 and on completion of training will then move on to Band 3 scale.

The Role

Assists Speech and Language Therapists by undertaking a variety of tasks/routine interventions under the direction of the Speech and Language Therapist across varied locations and with different client groups.

Duties and location may vary depending on the client group/aspect and demands of the service/level of experience.

In This Key Role, You Will

• To implement speech and language therapy programmes devised by and under the direction of the Speech and Language Therapist with clients with a range of difficulties and health needs.
• To prepare and organise therapy activities and equipment for own and others' therapy within the programme agreed with the Speech and Language Therapist.
• To carry out specified observation and information gathering to contribute to the speech and language therapy assessment/treatment.
• To determine and assess patient responses to treatment on an ongoing basis.

What You'll Bring

• SVQ III in Health and Social Care or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role.
• Ability to work with people and part of a multidisciplinary/agency team.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to carry out assigned patient/client care/therapy tasks effectively within a busy environment.
