Analytical Chemist in Metabolomics (1 year contract)

About the Role:

As an Analytical Chemist in Metabolomics, you will be an essential part of a dedicated team delivering metabolomics support across R&D projects. Your role will combine hands-on data generation in a state-of-the-art laboratory with scientific administration of studies involving outsourced data generation. Here's a glimpse of what you'll be doing:

  • Independent Analysis: After receiving relevant training, you will analyse biological samples using LC-MS techniques.
  • Data Quality Oversight: Take charge of your own data quality and collaborate with bioinformaticians to enhance study efficiency.
  • Technical Support: Provide critical laboratory support including standard and reagent preparations, sample management, and meticulous record-keeping.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Liaise with internal and external teams to manage outsourced metabolomics data generation effectively.
  • Documentation Management: Collate necessary documents and populate study management templates for smooth project execution.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop your expert knowledge in the scientific principles behind metabolomics studies, providing technical advice and ensuring quality assurance of data.

What We're Looking For:

Essential Skills:

  • Degree in a scientific discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in analytical chemistry, specifically with LC-MS.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent time management capabilities.
  • A team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt new skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in scientific study management.
  • Familiarity with accessing services through third-party organisations.
  • Previous work in metabolomics, especially using LC-HRAM-MS (Orbitrap technology) and quality control procedures.
