About WDC, the team and the Role

Are you passionate about the environment and eager to make a difference? If so, we have a vacancy for an Air Quality Officer in our Environmental Protection team, which has responsibilities for matters such as working on projects with partners in order to deliver air quality improvements in the district, leading on the co-ordination and management of the councils air quality monitoring network, providing advice for planning matters, and some enforcement related duties where for example people are not complying with relevant air quality legislation.

The post presents an ideal opportunity for a person who has an interest and knowledge of air quality related work and has or wishes to develop practical experience of delivering front line environmental health duties.

We would also be interested to hear from graduates that are looking to put their scientific knowledge of air quality into practice.

You will have guidance and support whilst working within a team that places a high value on teamwork, customer focus, professionalism, responsibility, and creativity. Ultimately you will need to be able to work on your own initiative but will have the support of your team leader as required.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable person to join our small but busy team. You must be competent with Microsoft Office and use of the internet and be an excellent communicator at all levels. Able to demonstrate ability to plan/prioritise and sequence multiple and potentially conflicting priorities.

We work flexibly in Warwick, and support working at home or flexible working patterns. We provide the equipment and tools to enable you to work flexibly, and in return ask you to use that flexibility to be creative and ambitious in the services we deliver.

The intention is for the postholder to work predominately from home however, you will be expected to be based in the office on at least one day a week (Mon-Fri on a rota basis), attend meetings as required and be available for the occasional out of hours work, sometimes at the weekend to respond to complaints. (Approximately 15 times a year).

Any costs for travel from home to the office will be met by the successful candidate.

If you are ready for your next challenge, you want to work somewhere where you can make a real difference to the community living, working and visiting the District, we want to hear from you.
