Reed is delighted to be partnering with a well-established international logistics organisation seeking an experienced Air Freight Imports Coordinator to join its growing operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for an air freight professional who enjoys managing shipments from arrival through to final delivery while ensuring high levels of customer service and operational accuracy.
The Opportunity
Working within a fast-paced freight forwarding environment, you will oversee import airfreight shipments, liaising with overseas partners, airlines, customs authorities, transport providers and customers to ensure cargo moves efficiently and compliantly.
The successful candidate will be highly organised, customer focused and confident managing multiple shipments simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate international air import shipments from pre-alert through to final delivery
- Monitor shipment progress and provide timely updates to customers and stakeholders
- Arrange customs clearance activities and ensure all import documentation is accurate and compliant
- Liaise with overseas agents, airlines, haulage providers and warehouse partners to facilitate smooth cargo movement
- Verify supplier costs and prepare customer invoicing in line with agreed commercial arrangements
- Resolve operational issues, delays or service disruptions with a proactive approach
- Maintain accurate records within the freight management system
- Ensure all shipments are processed in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures
- Support customer retention through consistent service delivery and effective communication
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service performance
About You
- Previous experience within air freight forwarding, with a particular focus on imports
- Good understanding of customs procedures and import documentation requirements
- Strong knowledge of the international freight and logistics sector
- Ability to prioritise workload in a time-sensitive environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and administrative accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience using freight forwarding software would be advantageous
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
