The Opportunity

We're seeking a talented, hands-on HVAC Engineer with experience in fault-finding, repairs, and commissioning ideally within railway HVAC systems, however sound engineering experience with Air Conditioning and Refrigeration systems is great. This is a specialist role with strong growth potential in a niche and evolving market.

You'll be based out of the South London facility, working across various high-spec HVAC systems designed specifically for air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration on the railway sector specifically trains, tubes etc.

Job Purpose

To identify issues/fault finding, repairing and commissioning railway air conditioning equipment and systems.

Job dimensions
  • Diagnose faults, repair, and commission HVAC systems for railway applications
  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs to high standards
  • Complete testing, reports, and documentation efficiently and accurately
  • Liaise with the Factory Manager and Service Support Team to maximise performance and response time
  • Mentor apprentices through practical and verbal guidance
  • Maintain safe working practices and uphold the company's reputation on-site
  • Keep workspaces clean, organised, and compliant with safety standards

Duties

  • Ad-hoc repairs on various railway HVAC units.
  • Offer appropriate support to apprentices through verbal and practical training.
  • Cleaning HVAC units.
  • Pre-testing and post-testing of HVAC units.
  • Replacing various components from HVAC units.
  • Completing test reports.
  • Keeping work areas clean and tidy.
  • Review and update overhaul/repair specifications.
Knowledge and skills
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on HVAC experience (rail HVAC experience highly advantageous)
  • Strong refrigeration and air conditioning repair/commissioning skills
  • Proven electrical fault-finding abilities
  • FGAS certification (essential)
  • CITB Skills Card
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and technical accuracy
  • Computer literate with solid communication skills
  • A self-starter with a proactive, team-focused mindset
