AI Research Engineer - Python / LLMs

• Contract length: 31/12/2025 - potential to extend for 24 months or permanent conversion

• Location: London 3 days per week

• Salary: £89,000- £98,000

A leading global technology company is seeking an AI Research Engineer to help advance cutting-edge AI agent capabilities. This role involves prototyping, testing, and benchmarking AI systems to deliver best-in-class performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and optimize test prompts for AI agents.

• Experiment with prompt engineering to steer AI behaviour.

• Implement and debug AI agent tool calls in Python.

• Build high-quality benchmarks for AI models.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).

• Strong Python programming skills.

• Experience in Generative AI and LLM research.

• Hands-on work with AI agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, MCP).

• Familiarity with software architecture and source control.

Preferred:

• SQL or database interaction experience.

• Knowledge of open-source AI libraries.
