You are a builder and innovator who is passionate about creating sophisticated AI systems that bring synthetic populations to life. You are someone who can translate complex behavioral requirements into robust technical architectures, building the systems that allow thousands of AI agents to interact, remember, and behave consistently
You have hands-on experience applying large language models to solve complex, open-ended problems. You excel at designing scalable agent architectures, implementing advanced LLM techniques, and building production-ready systems that can handle the computational demands of large-scale agent simulations
MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
At least 2 years of industry experience in a commercial, non-research environment working with AI/ML systems
Proven track record of building and deploying LLM-powered applications in production
Deep experience applying large language models to complex, real-world problems
Strong proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers)
Hands-on experience with advanced LLM techniques: RAG systems, chain-of-thought prompting, agentic tool use, and multi-agent coordination
Experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms, and scalable ML infrastructure
Knowledge of prompt engineering, LLM fine-tuning, and model optimization techniques
Familiarity with vector databases, embedding systems, and retrieval architectures
Experience with real-time systems and low-latency inference
Knowledge of memory systems and persistent state management for AI agents
Familiarity with simulation frameworks and agent-based modeling platforms

What the job involves

Develop: Develop the core cognitive systems that give our AI agents persistent memory, consistent personalities, and sophisticated reasoning capabilities
Platform: Create and maintain the scalable infrastructure that allows thousands of AI agents to interact, communicate, and evolve within complex simulations
LLM Solutions: Design advanced prompting strategies, RAG systems, and tool-use frameworks that enable agents to access information and take actions in their environment
Optimization: Ensure our agent systems can scale efficiently, optimizing for both computational performance and behavioral quality across large populations
Integration & Deployment: Work with our platform teams to deploy agent systems into production environments, ensuring reliability and scalability
Collaborative Development: Partner closely with Data Scientists to implement behavioral models and validation systems, translating research insights into robust technical solutions
Team: Join an early startup team of ex-founders, government advisors, and exceptional engineers who have worked on shaping policy in government, built companies, developed AI systems at DeepMind, and generated profits through predictions as quants and traders at top-tier financial institutions. Work with a diverse set of people such as researchers from top universities like Cambridge, LSE and Imperial, former military commanders, and battle-tested product leaders to tackle the most complex challenge of solving human behaviour.
