£50,000 - £65,000 Basic DOE + Overtime + Company Vehicle + Training

A well established groundworks contractor is looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to their growing team. This is a stable, day based role offering training, overtime, and long term progression within a supportive business.

The company operates across construction and groundwork projects, maintaining their own fleet of HGVs and plant machinery, working on manufacturers such as DAF, JCB, and John Deere.

You will mainly be based at the depot, carrying out servicing, repairs, and diagnostics across a mixed fleet. The role offers autonomy in your day to day work, with occasional travel to local sites when required. The role is varied, with great opportunity working on different machinery where no two days are the same.

Duties

• Service, maintain, and repair plant and commercial equipment
• Diagnose faults and complete mechanical repairs
• Primarily workshop based with occasional site visits
• Work across a mixed fleet including HGVs and plant machinery
• Overtime available at enhanced rates

Requirements

• Experience as a Mechanical Engineer / Plant Fitter / Technician
• Background in plant, agricultural, or commercial vehicles
• Strong diagnostic and hands on mechanical skills
• Fabrication / Welding desirable
• Able to commute to St Albans and travel locally if needed
