Ackerman Pierce is supporting a leading local authority in Southend to recruit an Advanced Practitioner for the Children with Disabilities Team on a permanent basis. The role offers flexible working hours, a supportive team culture and regular supervision on cases.

Southend is embedding a systemic approach and undergoing changes focused on reducing caseloads and improving outcomes for families. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast paced and supportive team.

Main duties include:

• You will work with children, their families and other agencies to meet assessed needs and support them to achieve their potential.
• Include assessment, planning and interventions with Children in Need, Children Looked After and Children in need of Protection, as well as young people preparing for adulthood.
• Must have a Social Work qualification and an understanding of the impact of disability on children's lives.
• Be passionate about making a difference and use creative and personalised approaches alongside the team's Signs of Safety and My Plan approach to achieve positive outcomes for children.
• Work in partnership with disabled children and their families, and with colleagues in Education, Health, the Voluntary & Community sector, wider Children's and Lifelong Services.
• Prepare and submit written reports as required, including statements and care plans for care proceedings in the Family Proceedings, County and High Courts.

OFSTED RATING 2024 - GOOD Minimum Requirements:

• SWE Registration
• 1 year post qualifying experience within the UK Social Care industry
• Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you)
• Eligibility to work in the UK

Knowledge & Experience

• Previous experience working within the children with disabilities team
• Knowledge of child protection, LAC and associated social work practices
• Understanding of the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families (attachment theory, enabling change, behaviour management)
