Job Description
Overview

To provide outpatient clinic and day-case foot surgery within a surgical environment in line with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust current policy, governance, commissioning and evidence-based context. To influence the future development of podiatric surgery by contributing to its evidence base at a regional and national level.


Accountable for the delivery of high-quality Podiatric care within a clinical area or pathway.


Responsible for delivering expert clinical practice with specialist clinical reasoning.


Contribute to evaluation and development of clinical practice within the specialism ensuring compliance with National and local guidelines and frameworks.


Contribute to service improvement and development of the clinical area or pathway.

Job responsibilities

Maintain good communication, liaison and working arrangements with other Trust teams, Trusts and external agencies. Use communication tools (verbal and non verbal) to gain valid informed consent with patients where there will often be barriers to effective communication e.g. loss of hearing, altered perception, expressive and receptive dysphasia, pain, fear. Have the capacity to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment e.g. those with cognitive or speech difficulties.
