Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner- Trauma and OrthopaedicsBand 8a - 1 Full Time Permanent Post
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to work as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner alongside NHS Tayside's Trauma & Orthopaedic and MSK Physiotherapy departments. The individual will lead the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy teams working in Trauma and Orthopaedic outpatients.
Based primarily in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, the aim of the role is to drive forward the professional boundaries by identifying opportunities within the Trauma and Orthopaedic service where Advanced Physiotherapy skills and knowledge can be used to improve the efficiency of the service and patient experience. This involves challenging the traditional medically led model which exists and to re-align work from Orthopaedic Consultants to an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner.
You will also provide leadership, support and knowledge to increase the skills and competence of other therapists within the AHP and Orthopaedic departments.
You will be an advanced musculoskeletal practitioner who will conduct both trauma and elective specialist clinics in partnership with, and independently of, consultant medical staff, influencing the experience and the waiting times of patients referred to secondary care. You will have a self-generated caseload incorporating comprehensive examinations of patients presenting to the trauma & orthopaedic service and make complex clinical decisions to determine appropriate pathway e.g. diagnostics, therapy, or surgical intervention.
You should have demonstrable advanced clinical skills/knowledge from postgraduate courses/in service as evidenced in your Continued Professional Development portfolio. You will have a proven record of leading and effectively managing change, service development and extensive professional & clinical experience at a senior level.
Ongoing personal and professional development is essential to provide a quality service and is supported through CPD workshops, appraisals, in-service training and involvement within the Tayside Practice Development Network.
You will have a keen interest in personal development and in-service training and participate in national research projects.
It is essential that you possess a Diploma/MSc/BSc in Physiotherapy and are HCPC registered.
Informal enquiries welcome. Please contact Andrew Suttie, Head of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, Dundee Health & Social Care Partnership, on or via email .
