Advanced Paediatric Audiologist / Team Leader Paediatric Audiology

Job Reference: 321-NOTSS B7. NHS AfC: Band 7. Permanent. 37.5 hours per week. Site: John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. Salary: £49,387 - £56,515 per annum pro rata.

Job Overview

We are looking for three band 7 Advanced Paediatric Audiologists / Clinical Scientists to join us at Oxford University Hospitals as we expand and reconfigure paediatric audiology services. The role supports service development, provides advanced clinical practice in paediatric audiology, and has line management responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver advanced clinical practice, including behavioural testing of non routine children, objective testing, and hearing aid fitting and verification.
  • Develop and deliver new paediatric audiology service at Horton Hospital, Banbury.
  • Supervise, coach and mentor junior staff to maintain high quality clinical service.
  • Participate in service development, leadership, management and training activities.
  • Attend clinics at John Radcliffe Hospital and other locations (Banbury, Brackley, Didcot) as required.
Qualifications
  • BSc in Audiology, PTP Healthcare Science (Audiology) or MSc with CAC/HTS; or STP in neurosciences (audiology modality).
  • State registration with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist (audiology modality) or with AHCS as an Audiologist.
  • Evidence of specialist training or qualification in paediatric audiology.
  • Evidence of specialist training in paediatric habilitation.
  • Management/leadership training and qualification.
Experience
  • Recent CPD activities.
  • Significant experience as a band 6+ specialist paediatric audiologist / Clinical Scientist in NHS.
  • Extensive experience of behavioural hearing assessment in children of all ages.
  • Experience of objective hearing assessment (OAE, ABR).
  • Experience of hearing aid fitting and verification in children, including real ear measurements.
  • Experience training other staff, including at same or higher grade.
  • Experience communicating with multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Previous NHS experience.
Personal and Technical Skills
  • High knowledge and competence in paediatric audiology.
  • Line management skills; coaching, feedback, active listening, appraisal.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of Newborn Hearing Screening Programme.
  • Excellent manual dexterity & coordination.
  • Computer literate; Microsoft Office and specialist audiology software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive, resilient attitude and able to multi task and prioritise.
Probation

6 month probationary period unless already employed with Oxford University Hospitals.
