Advanced Clinical Pharmacist - Workforce Development

We are seeking an inspiring and dynamic pharmacist to join our pharmacy team. The role will lead on supporting newly qualified pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to support them as they make the transition into registered professionals. The role will deputise for the Pharmacist Team Manager for Education, Training and Governance, supporting the wider pharmacy and Trustwide medicines management training agenda. This post would suit an experienced pharmacist with uncompromising standards who will strive to make a deep footprint on quality of care we provide to our patients. The post is based in Basildon but will support staff across the Trust.
They will be highly visible, actively modelling best practice and coaching our pharmacy teams to ensure that our patients consistently receive the best pharmaceutical care. Working with our senior departmental team of specialists and within the wider Trust, you will set the professional standard, develop pharmacy team members and help them transition to the next level of their careers. The role is full time (37.5 hours per week), including participation in on call, weekend, early, late and Bank Holiday rotas, as necessary.
Main duties- Active contribution to the provision and development of pharmaceutical services within the Trust, as part of the pharmacy and medicines management team.
- Manage the education and training activities of pharmacy staff to support the development of a pipeline of suitably qualified pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Take responsibility for the development of services provided to specified areas of the Trust.
- Provide clinical pharmacy advice on the management of patients with mental illness to maximise benefit and minimise risk in relation to medicines.
- Participate as an active member of specific ward / unit / clinical teams and support the safe and effective use of medicines.
- Lead the development and delivery of trust wide initiatives and projects relating to pharmacy education and training as requested by the Pharmacist Team Manager or Deputy Chief Pharmacist.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacy colleagues within and outside the Trust to ensure that the pharmacy workforce needs of the organisation can be met.
- Support and participate in clinical audit as necessary.
- Current and continued registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a practicing member.
- Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant area of pharmacy practice, or willingness to work towards one.
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and of the Faculty of Pharmacy, or willingness to work towards membership.
- Member of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy.
- Qualification as an independent non medical prescriber, or willingness to work towards one.
- Certificate in management studies and/or clinical teaching or equivalent experience.
- Tutoring and training skills and experience of planning and delivering training.
- Broad technical, clinical and pharmaceutical knowledge relating to the promotion of high quality, effective and cost efficient use of medicines.
- Good organisational skills such as prioritising, time management, managing others and ability to work as part of a team or alone.
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills including effective written and verbal communication.
- Experience as a pre registration tutor.
- Significant post registration clinical pharmacy experience, involving a number of different specialities within acute and mental health services.
- Experience of developing and leading clinical audit.
- Experience of managing, developing and mentoring staff.
- Experience of working with people with mental health / learning disability problems.
- Experience of working as a member of a multi disciplinary team.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £57,528 to £64,750 per annum, plus 5% high cost allowance.
