Advance Practitioner in Molecular Radiotherapy

Applicants are invited for an enthusiastic and motivated senior diagnostic/therapeutic radiographer looking to extend their role and support molecular radiotherapy patient pathways. A key aspect will be to take lead and undertake diagnostic procedures relating to Nuclear Medicine.

The Nuclear Medicine Section comprises of a team of physicists, radiopharmacy technicians, clinical radiographer / technologists and seniorassistant clinical technologists. The group has an active involvement in the research and development of nuclear medicine treatment pathwaysand members of the team are active within National and European working groups. We are committed in ensuring we are working to best practice by supporting our staff's professional development. We have strong working links with the Oncology department which have allowed the development of advance practice.You must have a relevant Diagnostic or Therapeutic radiography degree with evidence of MSC, further qualification or equivalent experience.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be working as a team member of the Radiotherapy department supporting Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering (MPCE) Department's Nuclear Medicine.

The post holder will be expected tosupport Molecular radiotherapy patient pathways from MDT to completion of treatment to include participation in the MDT, support of new patients, active support and management of clinical radio-therapeutic aspects of molecular radiotherapy and provision of on treatment patient reviews .

The post holder will supervise, support and assist in the service delivery and personal development.

Job responsibilities

To support Molecular radiotherapy patient pathways from MDT to completion of treatment.

To take lead and undertake the diagnostic procedures undertaken within the department relating to nuclear medicine.

To conduct departmental audit and development primarily for molecular radiotherapy and nuclear medicine patient pathways. Take part in research and audit as appropriate to area of work to ensure that practice undertaken is evidence based and liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

To be responsible for supporting the molecular radiotherapy and nuclear medicine service development through the clinical implementation of technical development strategies and/or process change.

To support highly specialised training requirements for molecular radiotherapy and medical physics staff and students with regard to changes within the molecular radiotherapy pathways.

To develop and implement policies and procedures following change of practices and innovation within the molecular radiotherapy and nuclear medicine service as required

To assist the nuclear medicine manager in the implementation and management of change within the service.

To maintain competence as a clinical Therapeutic radiographer by participation in routine radiotherapy work as required.

Qualifications
  • State Registration HCPC
  • Degree level qualification in radiography (diagnostic or therapeutic)
  • MSC or masters level qualification in oncology/radiotherapy/nuclear medicine
Experience
  • Substantive clinical and supervisory experience in the area of clinical expertise
  • Be able to work autonomously
skills and knowledge
  • Highly effective/excellent communication skills
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge in molecular radiotherapy/nuclear medicine
  • Able to analyse and interpret complex technical situations and decide upon appropriate action
