Adult Consultant Psychiatrist

Pinhoe View is a 36-bed inpatient service, including a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist and two associate specialists. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team (Nursing, OT, Psychology, and Social Work) to provide care and treatment for up to 16 patients supported by an Associate Specialist doctor.
Your key responsibilities will include managing complex cases, formulating care plans, guiding evidence-based treatments, and ensuring effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities of the Consultant Psychiatrist include:

• Liaison and collaboration with care co-ordinators, commissioners, families, carers, and other agencies
• Implementation of the Mental Health Act and liaising with the Ministry of Justice (if applicable)
• Multi-disciplinary and multi-agency partnership working
• Administrative duties related to patient care, including ensuring NHSE contractual obligations are met and discharge summaries are sent within 24 hours of discharge
• Maintaining GMC registration and adhering to professional conduct codes
• Maintaining Section 12(2) and approved clinician status

The hospital operates a two-tier on-call system, with associate specialists and agency staff providing first-tier on-call, and the post holder participating in the second-tier hospital on-call as the duty Responsible Clinician.
You will also provide cover for colleagues during leave and absences, with reciprocal arrangements.

To be successful, applicants will need:

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
• Full GMC registration with a license to practice
• MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
• Ability to take full responsibility for clinical care
• Section 12(2) approval and Approved clinician status
• Experience in General Adult settings and multidisciplinary team work
• Experience in acute inpatient or community settings, with skills in risk assessment and management
