Job Description

Full time Admissions Director - Dublin (Requisition ID: JR167786). Primary purpose: support facility operations by increasing the facility census.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the admissions process efficiently to ensure a positive experience for residents, families and supporting staff.
  • Plan, direct, and monitor daily operations of the Admissions Department to meet budgeted resident census goals and ensure professional and efficient admissions.
  • Admit patients to the health care facility, screen them against admission criteria and complete admission and financial responsibility forms.
  • Work collaboratively with leaders of other facility departments to ensure timely communication and enhance the admissions experience.
  • Confirm insurance benefit coverage meets admission standards.
  • Coordinate physical, social, emotional, and support services, including transportation.
  • Obtain applicant information through applications and medical records; verify, clarify, interview patients and families, and explain admission criteria.
  • Educate referral sources and maintain a comprehensive understanding of facility services for prospective residents.
  • Oversee bed assignments and complete preliminary paperwork.
  • Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and a calm environment throughout the facility.
  • Coordinate the intake process with the Director of Nursing and/or Case Manager to ensure appropriateness of admissions.
  • Maintain accurate records of bed availability and communicate them.
  • Build and nurture contacts with physicians, social workers, and discharge planners to maximize referrals.
  • Attend daily stand up meetings.
  • Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, fire drill and evacuation procedures.
  • Protect confidentiality of resident care information and report incidents of unauthorized disclosure.
  • Assist in planning and execution of outreach events such as on site health fairs and educational programs.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks.
  • Supervise admissions staff (position has supervisory responsibilities).
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or GED (minimum). Bachelor's degree in health care or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Two years of admissions experience preferred; LVN or RN license preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
    • Mathematical skills: fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Reasoning ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
    • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite products.
Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, use a desktop or laptop computer for prolonged periods, sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear, and use office-related equipment including copier, scanner, fax, telephone, and calculator.
