ADMISSIONS COORD

Responsibilities

Diamond Grove Center is searching for an experienced Admission Clinician. This position will have hours of 3:00 pm 11:00 pm weekdays, with on call flexibility.

• Answers telephone using the appropriate greeting and attempts to obtain all pertinent clinical, demographic and insurance information from the caller to determine caller's needs.
• Performs telephonic risk screening to determine level of suicidality/homicidality with caller in crisis.
• Demonstrates knowledge of admission criteria for inpatient and outpatient levels of care and is able to recommend appropriate service recommendations for each individual, providing referral recommendations to appropriate resources whenever a caller is not appropriate for services.
• Schedules assessments with potential patients and referral sources and explains the assessment/admission process.
• Conducts walk in and scheduled assessments, coordinates with the reviewing psychiatrist, and makes appropriate clinical recommendations for the individual seeking care. Conducts assessments for pre accepted patient transfers (direct admits) coming from hospitals and other approved referral sources.
• Identifies potential problematic disposition cases, including placement problems, medical needs or developmental delays, and seeks supervision prior to acceptance.
• Accurately and thoroughly enters information into the electronic medical records system in accordance with departmental protocol, documents in a clear, concise, and timely manner, and utilizes appropriate terminology in documentation.

Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or Human Service field, or licensed RN. Licensed IN, LCSW, PLC, LMFT preferred.

Experience: 1-2 years of experience preferred in psychiatric health care.

Skills: Working knowledge of DSM V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field.

Additional Requirements: Complete knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Handle With Care and CPR, knowledge and ability to effectively use computers.
