Admissions and Attendance Officer - Immediate Start (Full-Time)

Admissions and Attendance Officer - We are seeking an experienced Admissions and Attendance Officer to join a thriving secondary school in SE2 on a full-time, immediate start basis. This is a fast-paced and highly impactful role, ideal for a proactive Admissions and Attendance Officer who understands the importance of accurate data, strong communication, and safeguarding student welfare.

As an Admissions and Attendance Officer, you will take the lead on managing all aspects of student admissions and attendance processes. You will work closely with senior leaders, pastoral teams, and external agencies to ensure attendance is effectively monitored and improved, and that admissions procedures run smoothly and in line with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the full admissions process, including applications, offers, and in-year transfers
  • Monitor, track, and report on whole-school attendance data
  • Follow up on absences and implement strategies to improve attendance
  • Liaise with parents/carers, local authorities, and external stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate records using school MIS systems
  • Support safeguarding procedures related to attendance concerns

The successful Admissions and Attendance Officer will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build strong relationships with families and staff. You must be confident working with data and able to act decisively in a busy school environment.

Essential Requirements:
  • Proven experience working as an Admissions and Attendance Officer within a secondary school setting
  • Strong knowledge of attendance legislation and school admissions procedures
  • Experience using school MIS systems (e.g. SIMS, Arbor, or similar)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
