We are recruiting an Administrative Assistant to support the delivery of Disabled Facilities Grants here at East Lindsey District Council on a permanent, part time basis of 18 hours. We're looking for a committed and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant to join our busy Disabled Facility Grant Team supporting the delivery of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs) that enable residents to remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their homes. You'll be a key member of the DFG Team, working closely with DFG Officers, the Senior DFG Officer, and the DFG Team Leader. Your work will directly support homeowners, housing association tenants, private tenants, and licensees who are seeking adaptations to their homes. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines customer contact, administration, financial assessment, and team support.
What You'll Be Doing- Acting as the first point of contact for service users and external agencies via telephone, email, and face-to-face enquiries
- Providing clear advice, information, and signposting to appropriate services and managing case records to ensure timely and efficient processing
- Supporting applicants with DFG application forms and ensuring accurate, complete records
- Carrying out means-testing assessments using specialist software (FERRET)
- Inputting, maintaining, and monitoring data across multiple computer systems
- Assisting with raising orders, invoices, and financial monitoring using electronic systems
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- A customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills
- Confidence using IT systems, including databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records
- A professional, empathetic manner when dealing with sensitive situations
- Willingness to learn specialist systems and legislation related to DFGs
Experience in housing, grants, health and social care, or local authority services would be an advantage, but we also welcome applicants with transferable skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
