An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Adult Eating Disorder Service.

Working as part of both the Richardson Eating Disorders Service and the Community Adult Eating Disorders Service, you will be based some days each week at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and others at Walkergate Park Hospital, so ability to travel to different sites is essential.

Main duties of the job

The following core skills and experience are essential to the post:

The post will include providing Ward Clerk support to Ward 31A, the services 5 bed Specialist Eating Disorder Unit based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. The post will have its own day-to-day tasks as well as provide limited cover during B3 absence. Tasks will include, but not limited to, entering timetabling appointments from patient attendances, scanning, uploading, filing and requesting/returning files, typing and formatting of letters, ordering/returning and monitoring of equipment and answering calls.

The successful candidate will preferably have previous experience of working in a patient focused work environment, ideally in mental health services, and have the following core skills which are essential to the post:

  • Experience in a customer/patient and service user focused environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A good understanding of the RiO system.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and proven IT skills.
  • Ability to be self-directed, motivated and contribute positively to the team overall.
  • Well organised and structured.
  • This is a busy, developing role and you should be flexible and open to taking on additional tasks as they are identified.

The ability to travel between sites is essential as you will be based at both the RVI and Walkergate Park throughout the working week.

Job responsibilities

The ideal candidate should have excellent communication, customer service and organisational skills, as well as a working knowledge of office procedures including IT skills.

Person Specification Education and Qualifications
  • Good general level of education up to Level 1 standard in English Language and Maths.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service
Skills and Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Able to input data accurately and efficiently and undertake repetitive tasks whilst maintaining attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, face-to-face and non-facing customers.
  • Good organisational and planning skills using own initiative.
  • Knowledge of working in an NHS environment.
  • Ability to maintain and update patient information database(s).
Experience
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality at all times
  • Able to prioritise and plan own workload.
  • Experience of carrying out administrative tasks, e.g., data input, receiving and making telephone calls.
  • Experience of working in an NHS/health care setting and processing NHS/Healthcare documentation
  • Experience of working with paper-based and electronic filing systems.
