About The Priory Care Home, ChippenhamThe Priory Care Home is a privately owned residential care home in Chippenham, Wiltshire, caring for up to 23 residents in a warm, Edwardian Grade II listed home. The Activities Coordinator RoleThis is a wonderfully creative and deeply rewarding role. As Activities Coordinator you will design, organise and deliver a varied, stimulating programme of activities, events and outings that keeps our residents engaged, entertained, connected to their community and living life to the full.
You will build genuine relationships with residents, getting to know their life histories, interests and preferences, so that every activity is truly person-centred. You will also liaise with families and community groups to bring new experiences into the home and take residents out to enjoy local events and attractions.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver a diverse weekly programme of activities tailored to residents' interests and abilities
- Organise themed events, seasonal celebrations, and community visits
- Arrange and accompany residents on local outings
- Engage residents living with dementia through meaningful, person-centred activities
- Document activities and contribute relevant information to residents' care plans
- Build and maintain relationships with families and community organisations
- Source resources, materials and external entertainers within budget
- Capture and share activity highlights for family communications and social media
- Creative, enthusiastic and organised personality
- Genuine passion for enhancing the wellbeing of older people
- Experience in a care, leisure, education or community setting preferred
- Ability to engage and motivate residents of varying abilities and backgrounds
- Strong communication skills and an outgoing, warm manner
- Full UK driving licence (desirable, for arranging outings)
- Enhanced DBS check required (cost covered by The Priory)

The programme includes arts and crafts, music, gentle exercise, gardening, baking, themed days, seasonal celebrations, film afternoons, reminiscence sessions, local outings, visiting entertainers, and much more. You will have real creative freedom to shape the programme.
Do I need to have worked in a care home before?Experience in a care or leisure setting is preferred but not essential. What matters most is a genuine passion for working with older people and the creativity to deliver engaging, person-centred activities. Full training and dementia awareness support is provided.
Is a driving licence required?A full UK driving licence is desirable as it makes arranging outings much easier, but it is not an absolute requirement for the role.
What are the working hours?This is a part-time role with flexible hours. Exact hours and days will be discussed at interview to find an arrangement that works for both you and the home.
