Job Description
Purcell O'Leary Recruitment closely with the Head of Finance to recruit for a candidate to join their finance team.
This is a part time role to assist with month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, statutory compliance, audit processes and financial analysis.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced accountant seeking a flexible working arrangement while remaining involved in a varied and professional finance environment. 3 days per week
Key Responsibilities for the Accountant ( part time )Financial ReportingAssist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Responsible for reviewing, reconciling and reporting subscription revenue and deferred revenue, ensuring revenue is recognized accurately and in line with accounting requirements.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Support the preparation of reports for senior management, Board and Audit & Risk Committee meetings. Budgeting and Forecasting
- Assist with the annual budgeting process.
- Support forecast updates throughout the year.
- Analyses variances and identify key financial trends.
- Prepare audit files and supporting documentation for external auditors.
- Assist with the preparation of statutory financial statements.
- Support the maintenance and improvement of financial controls and governance processes. Financial Control
- Prepare and review key balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with cashflow forecasting and monitoring.
- Responsible for processing monthly outsourced payroll, including review of payroll inputs, coordination with the payroll provider, reconciliation of payroll reports and ensuring payroll is completed accurately and on time.
- Responsible for ensuring supplier payments are processed each month in line with approved payment controls, supplier verification procedures and delegated authority limits.
- Support implementation of process improvements within the finance function.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies.
- Provide financial analysis and support to operational managers.
- Assist with financial evaluation of projects and initiatives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial reporting and KPI monitoring.
- Support ad hoc projects as required by the Head of Finance.

- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
- Strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Advanced Excel skills. Essential Experience
- Preparation and review of management accounts.
- Budgeting and forecasting.
- Financial analysis and reporting.
- Month-end and year-end close processes.
- Liaising with external auditors.
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude and Microsoft Copilot to support financial analysis, reporting, document preparation, process improvement and productivity.
- Experience in publishing, media, subscription-based businesses or membership organizations.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
