About the Role

Join our dedicated Pharmacy & Medicines team and play a key role in delivering high-quality services within Critical Care in NHS Lothian. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic pharmacist to contribute to Critical Care services based at the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh.

The postholder will work closely with other members of the Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Team and with the Critical Care Multidisciplinary Team to provide high quality patient care. They will also have input into the daily consultant-led ward rounds and to Critical Care Quality Improvement meetings.

Clinical specialties seen within the busy general Critical Care unit include Hepatology, Renal Medicine, Transplant Medicine, Vascular and General Surgery, Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Toxicology, Gastrointestinal Medicine and Neurology.

The post holder will contribute to the development and delivery of the clinical pharmacy service in the face of emerging challenges around site capacity and patient flow.

About You

Candidates must have a Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and should have completed or have equivalent competence mapped to the RPS post-registration foundation pharmacist curriculum.

Ideally, candidates will have experience pro-actively influencing prescribing and will have gained experience working in a patient-focused environment using their knowledge and skills to improve patient care and promote optimal outcomes from medicines.
