We are seeking Prison Officers for HMP Woodhill, located in Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire. This merit vacancy offers a starting salary of £39,375 for a 39 hour week including 20% unsocial hours.
Responsibilities- Protect the public and contribute positively to prisoners' lives.
- Maintain safety and security within the prison and enforce rules and regulations.
- Build constructive relationships with prisoners and support their rehabilitation.
- Collaborate with colleagues as part of one team, supporting each other in shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
- Must be at least 18 years old at commencement of employment.
- Residency in the UK for the last 3 years and success in Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) vetting.
- Right to work in the UK - applicants are responsible for maintaining appropriate legal status.
- Skilled Worker visa sponsorship may be available subject to eligibility and UK Immigration Rules; not guaranteed.
- Pass medical and fitness assessment, including eyesight and hearing tests.
- Meet eyesight standard with and without corrective lenses.
- Hearing standard without use of hearing aids.
- Meet Civil Service nationality requirements (and any applicable settlement status).
- Complete online testing and assessment centre; clear enhanced level 2 vetting and CTC.
- Integrity, self confidence and resilience.
- Excellent communication, influencing and teamwork skills.
- Problem solving and decision making aptitude.
- Ability to work varied shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
The initial training commences at 37 hours per week. After training, staff can choose to work 37, 39 or 41 hours per week. Annual salary reflects weekly hours:
- 37 hours = £37,246
- 39 hours = £39,375
- 41 hours = £41,503
All figures include applicable allowances for the role/location.
Work ConditionsAssignment at a high security (Category A) prison requiring flexibility for various shifts and some weekends. Driving licence and own transport are beneficial but not essential.
