Protect the public and support inmates at HMP Wealston in Thorp Arch, Wetherby.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain security and order within the prison.
• Build positive relationships with prisoners.
• Work various shifts, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure a safe environment.

Eligibility & Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• Meet Civil Service nationality requirements.
• Pass a medical and fitness assessment.
• Meet required eyesight and hearing standards.
• For category A prisons, have resided in the UK for 3 years.
• Valid right to work in the UK.

Travel & Working Hours

Prisons operate 24/7; shifts may include nights and public holidays. Driving licence and own transport are beneficial but not essential.

Pay & Benefits

• Training: 37 hours a week.
• Post training options: 37, 39, or 41 hours per week.
• Annual salaries:
  • 37 hrs = £33,746
  • 39 hrs = £35,875
  • 41 hrs = £38,003
• Additional allowances apply.
