Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled 1st Fix Carpenter to join our modular construction team. This role focuses on the structural phase of factory-based builds, installing core timber elements before final finishes. The successful candidate will work within a controlled factory environment, contributing to high-quality, efficient off-site construction processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and work from technical drawings, specifications, and cutting lists
• Install structural timber components including:
• Floor joists and decking systems
• Wall framing and stud partitions
• Roof trusses and structural supports
• Fit door linings, window frames, and stair carcasses
• Install sheathing, plywood, and structural boards
• Ensure all work meets required tolerances and quality standards
• Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently
• Collaborate with other trades (e.g., electricians, plumbers) during early-stage installations
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in line with health & safety regulations
• Identify and report defects or inconsistencies in materials or drawings

Requirements

• Proven experience as a 1st Fix Carpenter (ideally in modular/off-site construction)
• Strong understanding of timber frame construction methods
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately
• Competence with a wide range of carpentry tools and machinery
• Knowledge of health & safety standards in a factory or construction environment
• Good attention to detail and ability to meet production targets
