Job Description
We are looking for qualified Clinicians to join our 111 team. The post holder will need to deliver high quality telephone clinical assessments and provide advice to callers presenting with a wide range of conditions and complex medical histories.

Pay: £22.00 per hour

Hours: Full Time & Part Time (minimum16 hours per week)

Accountable to: 111 ClinicalManager

Base: Newfield House, Vicarage Lane,Blackpool, FY4 4EW

Main duties of the job The post holder will beresponsible for delivering highquality telephone clinical assessment andadvice to callers presenting with a wide range of conditions and complexmedical histories. Using professional clinical judgement supported bydecision-support software, the role involves identifying appropriate carepathways, providing safe and effective homecare and medication advice, andreferring individuals to further clinical care when necessary. Working within acontact centre environment, the post holder will utilise both generalist andspecialist skills to assess patients of all ages, offering health informationand guidance that empowers individuals to manage their symptoms appropriatelyand access the right level of care.

Job responsibilities Day to Day Duties to include, but notexhaustive:

To alwaysuse professional judgement and, with the support of clinical assessment supportsoftware, provide skilled and effective assessment of patients presenting withclinical needs through telephone consultation.

To bring together, analyze and criticallyevaluate a range of information during the care process to provide accurateadvice and health information to patients to empower and enable them to actupon advice given

To maintain an up-to-date awareness ofcurrent policies and utilise acquired skills in mental health, childprotection, medication enquiries and all other aspects of general healthcare

To liaise effectively between caller andthird party in critical situations/areas of concern e.g. child abuse, whereinformation is not consistent or may be a safeguarding concern

To identify and use information sources to support and underpin clinicaldecision-making

Torecognise opportunities for providing health education during the consultationprocess and to supply such information either in person or by referring toappropriate health care professionals as required

To applystrong knowledge and competence in computer systems to effectively accessshared drives, databases, email platforms, and approved internet resources,ensuring the ability to critically appraise information sources and evaluatetheir evidence base.

Torefer to other clinical colleagues as necessary for advice, but to maintainaccountability and responsibility for decisions made in relation to clinicalcalls

To demonstrate the ability to remain focused on service delivery whilst dealingwith an unpredictable, diverse and challenging workload

To adhere to and implement national and local policies and procedures and workwithin the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the Health and Care ProfessionsCouncil (HCPC) and maintain active registration with professional bodies suchas HCPC or NMC,

Successfully complete training on a Clinical decision support system (CDSS) and maintaincompetence in line with pre-defined competency frameworks.

To workindependently, taking responsibility and accountability for managing ownworkload, risk assessment and risk management

To activelyparticipate in clinical supervision to facilitate personal and professionaldevelopment

To share andutilise areas of practice with peers and non-clinical colleagues to inform andenhance patient care

To maintain ahealthy and safe work environment for self and colleagues

To maintain aworking knowledge of emergency procedures and escape issues affecting servicedelivery as necessary

To informsenior colleagues of any factors affecting delivery of the service as soon asthey arise

You will be expected to activelyparticipate in the continuous quality improvement audit process, contributingto the development of your own performance and ensuring achievement againstagreed delivery targets. You will also take part as a clinical auditor,providing peertopeer audit and constructive feedback to support internalaudits, drive quality improvements, inform best practice, enhance servicedelivery, and maintain patient safety.

Communication

To activelycommunicate with other staff to assist service delivery

To activelycommunicate with other service providers about patient care programs or plans

Reflect thediversity of needs in the local healthcare community by utilising all availableresources to facilitate access to the service where there are barriers tocommunication and understanding

To useadvanced listening, probing and facilitative skills across a diverse range ofcalls, some of which can be highly challenging due to emotive circumstances orcaller aggression and to use complex communication skills to negotiate(utilising language support services as necessary), and provide support tocallers who may be non-compliant with recommended outcomes, emotive, hostile andantagonistic

Education, Training & Development

To takeresponsibility and plan for own personal development requirements to meetindividual education and developmental needs in line with service requirements

To support alearning environment in which quality, performance and development can flourishand to contribute to nursing development issues

To participatein an annual development review (PDP) with the line manager, identify areas ofneed for professional development to meet service and personal objectives

General duties and Responsibilities

Enhance own performance through continuouslydeveloping own knowledge, skills and behaviours to meet the current and futurerequirements of the job
