1:1 Teaching Assistant - Primary School (Sheffield)

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive primary school in Sheffield. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide tailored support to a pupil, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

About the Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a specific pupil, providing personalised support throughout the school day. You will collaborate with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement strategies that meet the child's individual needs, ensuring they feel supported, engaged, and included in all aspects of school life.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs
• Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum and completing tasks
• Adapt learning activities to suit individual learning styles
• Support emotional wellbeing and promote positive behaviour
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo, and external professionals
• Monitor progress and provide feedback on development
• Encourage independence and confidence in learning

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working within a UK school setting is essential
• Proven experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or within a classroom environment
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Excellent communication, patience, and empathy
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• A calm, flexible, and resilient approach

Desirable (but not essential)

• Experience supporting children with SEND (e.g., ASD, ADHD, SEMH)
• Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3)
• Experience working with behaviour support plans or EHCPs
