1:1 Support Assistant - All-Through Special School

Location: Sutton

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 3:45pm (Term Time Only)

Start Date: ASAP - we are always looking for passionate SEND staff.

About the Role

You will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with ASD, SEMH needs, challenging behaviours, and non verbal communication. You will work closely with the student in the classroom and around the school, tailoring support to enable learning, independence and emotional regulation.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with ASD, SEMH needs, challenging behaviours and non verbal communication.
• Support safe movement around the school, including corridor supervision.
• Assist in the classroom to help the pupil engage in learning and manage behaviour positively.
• Use initiative to respond calmly and effectively to challenging situations.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider support team.
• Promote independence, life skills and emotional wellbeing wherever possible.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience supporting pupils with ASD, SEMH needs, challenging behaviours or non verbal communication.
• Confident and skilled in positive behaviour management.
• Calm, patient and adaptable, able to respond effectively in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with SEND.
