1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant

Are you a 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant who can provide consistent support and build strong relationships with students?

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist setting in Dinnington (S25). This is a rewarding opportunity for a committed person who is passionate about supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

As a 1:1 SEMH TA you will work closely with an individual pupil, helping them manage behaviour, stay engaged, and access learning. The successful 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant will be patient, resilient, and confident in supporting students who may need extra guidance throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support as a SEMH Teaching Assistant
• Support emotional regulation and behaviour management
• Help the student stay focused and engaged in lessons
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
• Work closely with teachers and support staff
• Promote a safe and supportive learning environment

Requirements

• Experience working as a 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
• Understanding of SEMH needs and behaviour support strategies
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
• An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply
