Job Description
Job Purpose: 
The Paint Shop Zonal Leader is responsible for the direct supervision of assigned staff and contractors during Base Maintenance checks. The role ensures that all work within designated aircraft zones is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality, cost-effectiveness, and turnaround time. The Zonal Leader oversees preparation, mixing, and painting activities in accordance with task cards and approved data, ensuring compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements. The role also includes mentoring and supporting team members and apprentices to support continuous development within the Business Unit.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise all personnel, including contractors, within the assigned Paint Shop aircraft zone, with emphasis on attendance, productivity, and performance.
- Allocate work to assigned personnel and monitor progress.
- Perform technical and inspection duties as required.
- Ensure all assigned work is completed professionally and on time to meet aircraft delivery targets.
- Escalate any issues impacting aircraft delivery to the Check Leader.
- Coordinate daily work schedules with Check Leaders to ensure correct prioritisation.
- Provide daily progress updates to Check Leaders.
- Ensure all work is certified in accordance with approved data and company procedures.
- Ensure all documentation is current, approved, and properly controlled.
- Dispose of printed documentation (excluding task cards) after task completion in line with procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date shift handovers.
- Ensure materials used are recorded for both commercial and records purposes.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work environment and report any issues.
- Ensure all shelf life materials are within validity and properly stored.
- Verify that all tooling and test equipment are within calibration and serviceable.
- Ensure tools are cleaned after use and waste materials are removed appropriately.
- Secure the work area at the end of each shift.
- Support audit readiness and assist with corrective actions where required.
- Ensure proper use of PPE at all times.
- Support the development of new processes and capabilities within the Paint Shop.
- Liaise with Purchasing for paint and consumables procurement.
- Conduct ongoing stock checks to ensure availability of materials and forward planning.
- Oversee maintenance and servicing of spray booths and prep areas, ensuring records are audit ready.
- Maintain accountability for tooling condition, maintenance, and repair.
- Maintain records of hazardous and contaminated waste disposal.
- Liaise with Customer Representatives regarding work scope and programme requirements.
- Complete task cards accurately upon job completion.
- Report any technical, airworthiness, or safety concerns through the appropriate channels.
- Undertake additional duties as reasonably assigned by the Company.
- Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or traineeship with relevant qualifications.
- Holds necessary approvals for assigned area and understands limitations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams.
- Demonstrated competence in aircraft painting processes and practices.
- Good working knowledge of technical requirements relevant to the Business Unit.
- Ability to interpret maintenance manuals, drawings, service bulletins, and task cards.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities.
- Basic IT literacy, with willingness to learn company systems (including DALsys).
- Good understanding of Company MOE and Procedures Manual.
- Willingness to attend training as required.
- Where applicable, successful completion of the Dublin Aerospace competency assessment in accordance with GM2 145.A.30(e) and MOE 3.14 prior to unsupervised work.
