Job Description
Youth Justice Practitioner We do social work are looking for a youth justice practitioner to start asap. Main Priorities
  • Work within a multi-agency youth justice team to reduce offending behaviour and support young people's rehabilitation and social inclusion.
  • Build strong relationships with young people, families, victims, and professionals to ensure effective communication.
  • Manage and respond to risks to young people and others, following agreed plans.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to meetings, reports, and service evaluations.
  • Support service continuity by covering duties across the team when required.
Key Duties
  • Carry out holistic assessments using youth justice tools.
  • Support and motivate young people to make positive choices and engage in constructive activities.
  • Provide guidance on issues such as mental health and substance misuse, including referrals.
  • Deliver intervention programmes (1:1 and group work) to address offending behaviour.
  • Support resettlement and maintain contact with young people in custody, contributing to release planning.
  • Liaise with courts and professionals to support legal processes and outcomes.
  • Develop tailored intervention plans based on assessed risk and need.
  • Provide practical support (e.g. housing, education, employment, finances, family support).
  • Work closely with families/carers, including home visits, using a whole-family approach.
  • Facilitate restorative justice processes and support victims, ensuring their voices are heard.
  • Build links with local agencies to improve access to services.
  • Carry out additional duties as required.
