Youth Club Monthly Volunteer (The Hangout - North Ferriby and Swanland) The Hangout CIC - Monthly Volunteer Role OverviewRole Title: Volunteer Youth Club Helper
Location: Swanland Village Hall
Time Commitment: Approximately 2-3 hours per month (one session per month plus occasional updates) - usually the third Wednesday of every month
The Hangout is a community youth club for young people aged 11-15 from Swanland, North Ferriby and the surrounding HU14 area. Our aim is to provide a safe, welcoming and fun space where young people can relax, make friends, try new activities and build confidence.
What Volunteers DoVolunteers help create a positive and supportive environment during our monthly youth club sessions.
Typical Activities- Welcoming young people as they arrive
- Supporting games, activities and themed events
- Chatting with young people and helping them feel included
- Encouraging participation and positive behaviour
- Supporting the tuck shop where required
- Helping set up before sessions and tidy away afterwards
- Raising any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns with the Safeguarding Lead
We are seeking friendly, reliable adults who:
- Enjoy working with young people
- Are approachable and good listeners
- Can work as part of a team
- Share our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment
- Are willing to complete safeguarding checks and training
- No previous youth work experience is required
- Full safeguarding guidance and support
- An opportunity to make a genuine difference in the local community
- A chance to meet other volunteers and local families
- Experience that may be useful for careers in education, youth work, HR, community work or leadership
- Plenty of fun along the way
All volunteers will be required to:
- Provide references
- Undertake a DBS check where appropriate
- Follow The Hangout's safeguarding, health and safety, and code of conduct policies
The ideal volunteer can attend our monthly sessions, held on the third Wednesday of each month from 6.30pm-8.30pm, plus around 15 minutes before and after for set up and pack down.
Why Volunteer?The commitment is small, but the impact can be significant. Just a few hours each month helps create a safe place where local young people can connect, build confidence and have fun.
Typical commitment: 2-3 hours per month.
Age requirement: 18+.
