York Childcare Trustee

York Childcare is a not-for-profit organisation providing high-quality, affordable childcare across York for over 30 years. Our settings and services support children's learning, development, and well-being while giving families peace of mind that their children are in a safe and nurturing environment.

Our trustees are central to ensuring that York Childcare continues to thrive, delivering excellent services while remaining financially sustainable and rooted in our community.

We are looking for passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees at York Childcare. This is a fantastic opportunity to give back, have your voice heard, and help shape the future direction of the nurseries/Out of School Club that many families depend on.

As a trustee, you will:

• Contribute your unique skills and experience to make a real difference
• Support high standards in early years education
• Help guide the strategic direction of York Childcare
• Be part of a committed, supportive team

What is expected of a trustee?

• All Trustees have a full enhanced DBS check, undergo safeguarding training, and are registered with OFSTED. Our team will guide you through this process and cover any expenses required.
• The Board meet on the third Wednesday of every month at 5.30pm. This can be in person or online. If you can't attend every meeting, that's ok, minutes and papers are shared digitally.
• Trustees are sometimes asked to review information and respond over email, or to support projects outside of meetings. This is flexible and a York Childcare email address is provided so you can check them at a time which suits you.

No prior board experience necessary, just enthusiasm and a desire to make a difference!
