Year 2 Teacher

Overview

Year 2 Teacher - Part-time KS1 role in a two-form entry primary school in Brinnington, Stockport. The position commences September 2026 and runs until the end of the academic year. Applications welcome from ECTs as well as more experienced teachers; KS1 experience is encouraged.

The role is to support the progress and attainment of a Year 2 class and contribute to a high-performing school environment.

Responsibilities

• Create engaging lessons aligned with Year 2 National Curriculum standards and support the school's creative curriculum.
• Build a positive rapport with all pupils based on trust and mutual respect.
• Understand age-related expectations for Year 2 and scaffold and stretch accordingly to maximise educational outcomes for individual pupils.
• Keep up-to-date records of data and analyse where and what to reteach to bridge gaps in learning and raise attainment.
• Plan targeted interventions in literacy and numeracy and report progress to the SENDCO to evaluate effectiveness against targets.
• Work effectively as a team with the partner teacher, key stage and wider staff to share advice, resources and best practice.
• Contribute to the extra-curricular programme on a rotational basis.

Essential Requirements

• QTS (or an equivalent teaching qualification).
• Excellent references to support previous experience (ideally in a Year 2 class).
• A CV covering the last 10 years of employment history with any gaps explained.
• The right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS check (child workforce).
