Year 1 Graduate Teaching Assistant

Do you want focused Year 1 classroom experience before applying for teacher training? Could you deliver 1:1 and small-group support that helps KS1 pupils make rapid progress?

  • Provide support and guidance across the KS1 curriculum
The Role

Work in Year 1 to deliver short, targeted interventions in phonics, early writing and number. Provide 1:1 catch-up, guide small groups, set up activities, and keep brief notes so next steps are clear. Reinforce routines, promote positive behaviour, and help pupils build confidence and independence.

The Candidate

You're a graduate who communicates clearly, follows guidance well, and brings a calm, organised approach. You enjoy working with young children and want to build practical classroom skills ahead of initial teacher training.

Requirements
  • Degree - A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication - Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS - Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children - Strong interest in KS1 and pupil progress.
  • Experience working with children - Any relevant experience (tutoring, mentoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
