Our workshop and aftersales operations play a critical role in ensuring vehicles are prepared, repaired, maintained and presented to the highest standards. As our business continues to grow, we are looking to strengthen our workshop team with practical, motivated and quality-focused individuals.
The RoleAs a Workshop Technician, you will support the preparation, inspection, repair and presentation of minibuses, buses and specialist passenger transport vehicles within our Southwater workshop facility.
This is a hands on workshop based role suited to candidates with practical experience in vehicle preparation, repair, coachbuilding, conversion, commercial vehicles or multi skilled workshop environments.
The role requires strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively within a busy and fast paced workshop operation.
As a Workshop Technician your role will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Carry out vehicle PDI preparation and de snagging activities.
- Carry out vehicle scheduled servicing and routine maintenance activities.
- Complete workshop repairs and rectification work as directed.
- Assist with workshop servicing, inspection and repair activities in line with manufacturer and company standards.
- Assist with minor mechanical, electrical and trim related repairs.
- Install and replace vehicle accessories, fittings and components.
- Prepare vehicles for customer delivery and handover.
- Support diagnostic and fault finding procedures using workshop equipment and software, and report issues to management.
- Follow manufacturer repair methods and workshop procedures.
- Use workshop tools, lifting equipment and PPE safely and correctly.
- Support workshop efficiency and daily operational requirements.
- Liaise with Parts and Aftersales departments regarding repair requirements and parts usage.
- Complete job cards and workshop records accurately.
- Assist with vehicle movements within the workshop and yard areas as required.
- Carry out quality inspections on completed work.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company quality and health & safety standards.
Performance will be measured against agreed KPIs including vehicle quality standards, workshop efficiency, completion times, attendance, housekeeping standards and overall contribution to workshop operations.
You will be expected to work closely with Workshop Control, Parts, Aftersales and Management teams to support the efficient operation of the workshop and delivery of vehicles to customers.
Knowledge & Experience- Previous practical workshop experience within automotive, commercial vehicle, coachbuilding or similar industries.
- Good hands on mechanical aptitude and practical skills.
- Ability to use workshop tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Positive and flexible attitude towards work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
The following experience would be beneficial but is not essential:
- Vehicle conversion or coachbuilding experience.
- Basic electrical installation or repair experience.
- Experience working on minibuses, vans, buses or specialist vehicles.
- PSV or commercial vehicle workshop exposure.
