Contract: Until 31 March 2025 (possible extension)
Location: Any UK hub (excluding London), 3 days onsite/week
Preferred Hubs: Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Cardiff, Glasgow, Newcastle
Rate: Up to £500/day (umbrella)
IR35: In scope
Clearance: BPSS

Overview
Strategic role focused on maintaining and enhancing design quality across a large portfolio of workplace and public-facing projects. This is not a hands-on design position, but one centred on assurance, policy, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee design assurance across up to 300 active projects

• Ensure compliance with relevant standards (eg, BS8300)

• Develop and maintain workplace design standards and guidance

• Lead post-occupancy evaluations and drive continuous improvement

• Advise on design strategy, cost, and feasibility

• Collaborate across all RIBA stages with stakeholders and contractors

Essential Skills

• Background in architecture or interior design (ideally commercial/retail)

• Proven experience with large-scale workplace or public service environments

• Strong understanding of inclusive design, accessibility, and UK regulations

• Skilled communicator with stakeholder engagement experience

• Familiar with RIBA processes and standard development

Desirable

• Degree or qualification in architecture/project management

• Experience in complex estates (eg, healthcare, education)
