Job Description

16 - 24 hours available (two or three days per week); to provide maternity cover for up to one year.

As a WorkflowAdministrator at The Three Spires Medical Practice (in Truro, Cornwall) youwill use your skills and confidence to read, code and act on incomingcorrespondence.

Using an approved protocol,you will decide which letters / emails need to be sent to a GP and with whatlevel of urgency, ensuring that the patient record is kept accurate and up todate.

You will be extremelyorganised, able to take a busy workload in your stride and have great attentionto detail. You will have excellent ITand keyboard skills and ideally have experience in a healthcare environment.

Working closely with yourWorkflow team colleagues, you will support each other in getting the job doneas quickly and accurately as possible.

Main duties of the job

You will be an experiencedAdministrator with a proven track record of working on your own initiative. Organised and methodical, you will have greatcommunication skills, both written and verbal, and ideally have previous experience with a goodunderstanding of medical terminology and Snomed/Read Codes.

Job responsibilities

Key responsibilities

The responsibilities may include any or all of the following. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the line manager, dependent on current and evolving Practice workload and staffing levels. This role may be supported by other team members.

To sort incoming patient correspondence in preparation for review.

Access all letters received electronically / via post and action as appropriate.

To review all incoming patient correspondence and Snomed / Read Code relevant clinical information onto the Practices patient information system (SystmOne).

Identify and refer any clinical actions to the GP.

Undertake any administrative action as appropriate, and within specified guidelines.

Liaise with internal/external departments or healthcare providers as required.

Provide cover for other members of the Workflow team for annual leave / sickness absence as may be required.

Person Specification Experience
  • Knowledge of medical databases / software.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a GP surgery.
  • Knowledge of SystmOne software.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Recognised Administration / Business Studies qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • ECDL
  • RSA Stage III word processing, or equivalent.
