The Role

As a SEND / SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a Reception-aged pupil with SEND/SEMH needs
  • Support the child's emotional, social and academic development
  • Implement strategies to promote engagement, regulation and positive behaviour
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider staff team
  • Support transitions, routines and learning within the classroom environment
  • Maintain accurate observations and contribute to support plans
  • Ensure safeguarding, welfare and health and safety procedures are followed at all times
Requirements

To be considered, you must have:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs
  • Experience working 1:1 with children, ideally in EYFS or early primary
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach
  • Strong behaviour support and emotional regulation skills
  • The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children
  • A professional, reliable and committed attitude
  • A genuine interest in working overseas on a long-term basis

Relevant SEND, SEMH or Teaching Assistant qualifications are highly desirable.
