Wintel Engineer

Your new company
You will be working for an organisation that is based in Cumbria. The requirement is to be predominantly on-site. The rate is inside scope of IR35 and the role requires someone with active SC Clearance. Anyone without active SC Clearance will not be considered for the role.

Your new role
Our client is seeking an experienced SC Cleared Wintel Engineer to support the delivery of critical infrastructure work within the Nexus Project. This role will involve hands-on server and infrastructure build activities within a secure environment, ensuring all work meets required security, governance and technical standards.The successful candidate must be willing to work to SQEP standards and obtain a P4 Pass if not already held.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, configure and deploy Windows server infrastructure within secure environments.
• Produce high-quality Low-Level Designs (LLDs) and Build Guides.
• Support physical server installation and infrastructure build activities on client sites.
• Ensure infrastructure is delivered in accordance with security policies, data protection requirements and build standards.
• Work closely with the Portfolio Manager and Technical Lead to achieve project objectives.
• Maintain technical documentation and support project assurance activities.

Essential Experience

• Active SC Clearance.
• Strong background as a Wintel Infrastructure Engineer.
• Experience delivering infrastructure solutions for UK Government, Defence, or other highly secure environments.
• Strong understanding of secure infrastructure build standards and data security requirements.
• Proven experience producing detailed technical documentation, including LLDs and Build Guides.
• Experience working within regulated and security-conscious environments.

Desirable Experience

• Previous delivery experience within Public Sector & Defence (PS&D) environments.
• Experience working with Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) organisations.
• Familiarity with accreditation, assurance and secure delivery frameworks.
• Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure transformation programmes.

Additional Information

• Active SC Clearance is mandatory.
• Candidates must be prepared to work to SQEP requirements and obtain a P4 Pass.
• Regular on-site attendance will be required due to the nature of the environment and server build activities.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and documentation skills are essential.
