Whisky Sommelier (Live-In) - Scotland

£30,443 plus Tronc plus accommodation.
Location: Scottish Highlands
Accommodation: Live-in provided
Position: Full-Time

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Whisky Sommelier to join a luxury hospitality venue in Scotland.

This role is ideal for a whisky specialist who combines deep product knowledge with refined guest engagement skills and thrives in a premium, experience-led environment.

The Role

As Whisky Sommelier, you will curate and deliver an outstanding whisky experience for guests, enhancing their stay through education, storytelling, and tailored recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curating and managing an extensive whisky collection

  • Conducting private tastings and guided whisky flights

  • Pairing whisky with tasting menus and special events

  • Advising guests on regional styles, maturation processes, and distillery heritage

  • Maintaining supplier relationships and managing stock control

  • Training front of house staff to enhance whisky knowledge

  • Supporting premium retail sales where applicable

This is a highly guest-facing role requiring confidence, presence, and exceptional communication skills.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong knowledge of Scotch whisky regions, production methods, and flavour profiling

  • Formal certification (e.g. WSET Level 2/3 Spirits or equivalent) preferred

  • Experience delivering structured tastings and premium service

  • Confident public speaker with engaging storytelling ability

  • Commercial awareness with upselling capability

  • Ability to relocate and live on-site
