What we're looking forTo become a Wellbeing and Safeguarding Officer in our Student Experience and Engagement department, we need someone who is supportive, empathetic and a great listener. The successful candidate will have the chance to acquire new skills and develop their abilities in a wide range of activities. We require a relevant Level 3 NVQ Qualification.

What you'll be doing- Act as the first response safeguarding contact, operating rapid response to all safeguarding concerns and maintaining effective cover across the college.
- Maintain and record accurate information using the appropriate college systems (e.g. ProMonitor, UnitE).
- Assist in the delivery of annual safeguarding updates.
- Promote and raise awareness of safeguarding, prevention and wellbeing support and procedures for students, including supporting tutorial content.
- Liaise with outside agencies as appropriate in the protection of vulnerable young people and adults and promote and maintain links with network agencies.
- Carry out thorough risk assessments and checks on any learners who disclose criminal convictions.
- Carry out thorough risk management plans for identified individuals.
- Provide initial support and advice to individuals identified as "at risk".
- Provide one to one and group high quality wellbeing themed interventions that encourage learners to engage and support future success and progression.
- Deliver group anxiety sessions and exam support sessions.
- Measure the impact of one to one and group work to evaluate effectiveness and inform continual development and target student issues.
- Investigate barriers to learning and support learners to overcome them by developing innovative practice and delivering a consistently outstanding service.
- Maintain accurate records of all interventions and student information on the wellbeing database.
- Manage a flexible caseload of students, prioritising those with complex needs and safeguarding concerns.
- Be a key member of the college safeguarding team and attend regular caseload reviews to ensure student needs are being met.
- Assist in activities such as recruitment events, enrolment activities and assessment of support needs.
- Support the wider Student Support and Wellbeing department in the promotion of campaign weeks and in facilitating activities to promote awareness of key issues.
- Produce statistics to evaluate the impact of services and contribute to the college's quality processes.
- Act as a First Aider and Fire Marshal.
- Commit to safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Participate in the college's Performance Management Scheme and attend required training events.
- Continuously improve teaching, learning and assessment through proactive CPD and sharing best practice.
- Actively participate in the college's Quality System, including quality improvement strategies and initiatives.
- Carry out other duties as may be assigned commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post.
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of self and others affected by work.
- Support college safeguarding, equality and diversity policies.
- Operate/conduct all HR tasks and functions within GDPR principles.
