Weighbridge Operator

Overview

This role involves safely and professionally driving a variety of vehicles to collect construction and demolition waste from customer sites and transporting it to designated waste facilities. The role requires strong awareness of vehicle operation, waste types, London route knowledge, and adherence to traffic laws and compliance standards. A high level of customer service and the ability to handle on-site challenges are essential.

Responsibilities

• Drive vehicles safely, efficiently, and professionally as instructed.
• Collect construction and demolition waste from customer locations and transport it to approved sites.
• Follow all internal policies and procedures.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness.
• Report accidents, defects, or safety concerns immediately.
• Ensure no defective vehicle is driven on public roads.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness inside and out.
• Ensure loads are secured safely and correctly.
• Update Transport Controllers on job completion and any issues encountered on-site.
• Wear required PPE and the issued uniform.
• Maintain courteous and professional behaviour in all customer-facing interactions.
• Report any changes in health or personal circumstances that may impact driving ability or licence compliance.
• Ability to drive safely and in full compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work demands.
• Strong communication skills with customers and internal teams.
• Valid Class 1 or Class 2 driving licence.
• Valid digital tachograph card.
• Ability to maintain up-to-date driving licences and required compliance.
• Good working knowledge of London road networks.
• Strong customer service skills in varied site environments.
